Hong Kong needs to house more residents in the limited available space. As such, a client that has a plot of land available for development wanted to use smart city technology to provide the best living conditions for residents. As development would take time and technology is expected to quickly improve, the client wanted to ensure that future technologies are implementable and strategically aligned.
Research was executed to existing smart cities, currently available and future smart city technologies, and the Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint. The results were presented at various workshops to inform the client of the possibilities and developments, and to retrieve feedback on the alignment to their strategy for the new district.
The resulting report provided the client with an overview of different technologies, their ease of implementation, the technological requirements for integration into the design and tender process, and their alignment with the Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint and corporate strategy.
